An alliance of NGOs, associations and organisations from the media and digital industry have filed a formal complaint against Google's AI Overviews service with the German Federal Network Agency, in its role as Digital Services Coordinator (DSC). According to the signatories, Google is violating key provisions of the Digital Services Act (DSA), by integrating AI-generated answers (so-called Google AI Overviews) into searches. Economists from FehrAdvice & Partners prove this through a behavioural economics experiment: 73 per cent of users prefer the Google search engine with journalistic content. Further findings: journalistic media contribute in particular to the topicality, trust and completeness of search results. On average, journalistic media increase Google’s value by 24 per cent.

Corint Media and the largest European search engine Ecosia conclude permanent licence agreement on press publishers' rights. In terms of press publishers' rights, the green search engine Ecosia, based in Berlin, and Corint Media agree on the required remuneration calculation. Ecosia emphasises the will to conform to the law and its own ethical core values as the basis of the search engine's strategic orientation, including the use of content from publishers and individual authors.
